Case Formulation and Treatment Planning Workshops

Case Formulation and Treatment Planning Workshops

‘Where do I start processing?’ is one of the most frequently asked questions in EMDR supervision. EMDR therapists, novice and experienced, struggle with formulating complex cases and struggle with formulating a treatment plan, especially in time limited settings, which is an undeniable reality for all of us.

These one day workshops have proved to be very popular as one day CPD events, for as many as 100 people. I have ran this workshop as an in-house CPD event for NHS mental health Trusts; and also as a general CPD event for EMDR therapists, run on behalf or an EMDR Regional Group.

The feedback is consistently very high, with participants appreciating the practical and interactive nature of the day, which can be run both in person or online; leaving with increased confidence and renewed enthusiasm.

Course content and aims:
EMDR Case formulation within the AIP model
Practice formulating a simple’/ complex case

Testimonials for Case Formulation and Treatment Planning Workshops

Such a useful workshop. I feel that I will be able to apply the skills and knowledge I have learnt today right away in my daily practice.
The training was excellent. I found the workshop very helpful in clarifying and applying the AIP model, history taking, formulation, treatment plan and target selection. It was particularly helpful to formulate an existing client and role play a supervision discussion around this.
Ines is a very compassionate and inclusive trainer. Even with 50 participants on Zoom, she created a psychologically safe space to ask questions. The opportunity to reflect on personal cases and collaborate in pairs really worked for me as a neurodivergent psychologist.
Very helpful to have a trust-focused event. My colleagues and I can now support implementation together, and it was valuable to connect with clinicians across the Trust to share perspectives.
I trained years ago and have not used EMDR regularly, so I really appreciated the review of core concepts as well as new ideas. Ines’ teaching style was a perfect balance of instruction and practice—I’m now excited to get going with the formulation tool!
