A unique, immersive experience…
The EMDR Experience: A unique, immersive experience for EMDR Therapists
Thursday–Sunday, 14–17 May 2026
This three-day EMDR retreat-style workshop with Dr Ines Santos and Marian Tobin will be our fourth retreat at the beautiful and tranquil Sharpham House in Devon. Previously organised and facilitated with our esteemed colleague Robin Logie, now retired, we are please this year to welcome Naomi Fisher to join us.
The retreat provides an opportunity to relax, reflect and enhance and develop your EMDR therapeutic skills and your attunement to clients as therapist – you will also have the opportunity to receive EMDR therapy within a safe and supportive environment.
The Retreat Workshop:
The workshop will include a combination of formal teaching, demonstrations, and experience of receiving and practicing EMDR therapy. It will be limited to twenty participants together with three facilitators.
The teaching element of the workshop will include some core elements such as case formulation, target selection, and brushing up on the EMDR standard protocol, the remainder of the teaching will very much be designed around participants’ individual needs and interests including for example complex trauma.
The demonstration element will include three sessions of EMDR therapy conducted by a facilitator with a volunteer, using the group as a consulting team.
The experiential element of the workshop will involve participants working in pairs in small groups to provide EMDR therapy to each other, this will be closely supervised and supported by the facilitators. Each participant will have a minimum of one session as client and one session as therapist.
A fourth informal element of the workshop will be a chance to socialise, relax in the library, walk and explore the wonderful gardens and countryside, individually or as a group or and bathe in the open-air pool, weather permitting! Please note as this is a retreat environment all participants will be asked to ‘engage in building a spirit of community, generosity and co-operation with the house staff and your fellow group participants’ through involvement in simple everyday tasks such as washing up and vegetable preparation. This will be a different way of getting to know each other!
Excluding all breaks and informal elements, the workshop will total 18 hours and has, accordingly, been awarded 18 EMDR CPD credits by the EMDR Association UK.
Date:
The retreat will take place from Thursday 14th May – Sunday 17th May 2026. It will start on Thursday afternoon and finish at midday on the Sunday.
Fees:
The fee for the workshop will be £912 + VAT = £1140 per person for the three days. This will include all accommodation, meals and refreshments. The only additional expense will be travel to and from the venue.
Eligibility to attend:
To attend this retreat, you will need to have completed a basic 7/8-day EMDR training. It is expected that participants will include a mix of different levels of experience from recently trained EMDR therapists to those who are accredited EMDR Consultants or Facilitators and wish to refresh their EMDR practice.
